This is my inaugural entry into the Wallace Art Awards is a piece from a recent series exploring multiple exposure techniques.
While I didn’t place in the awards, it’s an honour to have been included in the Finalists Travelling show which will travel New Zealand over the next year.
As well as being my first entry into the Wallace Art Awards, this is my first entry into any awards or competitions. It’s quite an interesting process to go through personally, trying to stay true to yourself and putting forward work that represents me and not producing work that you think will suit the judges.

Painting with the Lens
I have my art tutor Heather Sarin to thank for my approach to my photographic work. During my Diploma in Painting, I started to look at my photography through ‘a different lens’ and my compositions tend to be approached as if I was painting. This work is a great example of that process where I take the two photos and compose them with the intention to overlay them.

Double Exposures
To create the double exposures I use photoshop only to combine the images in a way that would have previously been done in-camera, using film (before computers and photoshop).
