High Altitude Sickness over South Canterbury
Let me preface this by saying I'm not nansy pansy and am NOT responsible for my body's inability to keep my stomach contents down while being thrown around in the air.
Now that we have that out of the way.
I popped a few Sea Legs then jumped in the Piper Archer with my friends and began our ascent over South Canterbury. It's been a few years since I have been in a small aircraft and now I remember why I decline such invitations. That being said it was a very enjoyable experience. We flew over the Clandeboye Fonterra site and man is that place big, the yard full of milk tankers looked like match sticks from above. From there we flew over Lake Tekapo via Geraldine, during which I took a few hundred pictures.
The ones Iíve chosen may not be what people expect of aerial shots, but the one thing I have learnt about myself from doing my diploma course is that I definitely see things differently when compared with the masses. I mainly look at the composition and the light and darks in photos and the ones which I chose to put here are a series of paddock shots in which I like the lines and patterns created by the roads and tree lines.
To me they are like abstract paintings.
Needless to say, if and when the next trip happens, Iíll be trying something stronger than Sea Legs!
